Resource Spotlight - Cherokee Recreation & Parks

By: Hailey Mankey

One of the ways Children's Autism Foundation supports its community is by creating and maintaining a webpage dedicated to Autism resources in our local community. These resources range from ABA/Speech/OT/Social Skills groups, summer camps, recreational activities, respite care, evaluation and diagnosis resources, transition programs, and legal/financial resources. You can find this page here!

We'd like to spotlight some amazing programs, opportunities, and experiences available to individuals and families in the Autism community!

Today’s Spotlight is Cherokee Recreation and Parks’ Therapeutic Recreation programs!

Cherokee County offers an abundance of inclusive Therapeutic Recreation programs for those on the Autism Spectrum, as well as individuals with other special needs! These programs are designed to increase independence and improve quality of life through recreation and leisure for anyone with special needs. From cooking classes, exercise classes, and dance classes, to other special events like sensory-friendly Supper with Santa- they have something for everyone!

Check out their website for a full list of events and programs!
